Hull’s hottest export FRONTEERS hurtled into 2016 with the single ‘Idol’, which received support from 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, 6Music’s Don Lett’s, Radio X’s Phil Clifton and John Kennedy and Radio 2’s Janice Long. Now they’re back with (possibly) the world’s first quadruple A side, double 7”, 4 track EP ‘Streets We’re Born In’, which is released on 8th July on Warren Records.
“We set out with the aim of making an EP where any one of the four songs could be the lead track, then we thought the best way to put it out would be as two double A sided singles packaged together, it just kind of made sense.”
Continuing their tour of the nation’s boutique independent labels, the new EP will be released on the band’s hometown label Warren Records. Label boss Stewart Baxter says, “We are extremely excited to be working with FRONTEERS, they’re a band we have supported from the start who are putting Hull on the musical map. This EP is their strongest material to date and we’re very proud to be releasing it.”
Talking about the tracks on the EP Andy Towse says, “‘Nothing’s Ever That Simple’ is about being in an argument and defending your corner ‘til the death even when no one really knows who’s right or wrong. ‘Hear It In The Rainfall’ is about suspicion, judgement and destiny - what might or might not be. ‘Full Moon’ is about someone that drives you fucking crazy and ‘Streets We’re Born In’ was inspired by a quote written on the wall of a dressing room we found on tour that I connected with.”
Following support slots with Blossoms and Pretty Vicious and an NME Awards show at Dingwall’s, FRONTEERS sold out a hometown show at the New Adelphi. They are thrilled to announce details of their next Hull gig; an EP Launch show at Fruit on Sat 9th July. Tickets go on sale this Friday (13th May) from
www.hullboxoffice.co.uk
In addition to playing a string of headline dates in May and June, the band is also confirmed for numerous festivals this summer including Live at Leeds, The Great Escape Festival and Isle of Wight Festival. Details below with more tba.
FRONTEERS are Andy Towse (Vocals / Guitar), James Taylor (Vocals / Guitar), Ellis Keogh (Bass), Lloyd Tuton (Drums).
